Kyle Busch overpowered the field in the NASCAR Nationwide Race at Texas Motor Speedway, winning in the second-tier series for a record-tying 10th time this season.

Busch, whose first victory of the season came on the same 1.5-mile oval in April, matched Sam Ard’s season record set in 1983. He held off a charging Carl Edwards in the final laps of the O’Reilly Challenge on Saturday.

There is one tight championship battle in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series.

While Jimmie Johnson goes into Sunday’s Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway with a commanding 183-point lead over Carl Edwards in the Chase for the championship, Sam Hornish Jr. holds a mere 2-point margin over Regan Smith in the duel for rookie of the year.

“It’s a tough thing because every time I feel like, ‘All right, I ought to be doing really good,’ I look in my rearview mirror and Regan’s there,” Hornish said Saturday.
